Our History
Our Founder, George Rebecca, started working on guitars in the '90s, doing repairs and setups, alongside being an accomplished audio engineer. During this time he identified his most and least desirable features from a variety of guitars and set out to combine as many of his favorite features - into a single guitar.
His greatest enjoyment was working with pickups and wiring, while the biggest obstacle he encountered was designing a switching system that gives players a massive pallet of tone options, yet remaining fast and intuitive while playing.
After many frustrating nights pulling out his hair and burning himself soldering wires, he came up with a solution. The wiring was just the beginning. He still had to figure out wood choices and hardware, but first things first, he needed a name.

What Does Furcifer Mean?
He needed a name that would represent exactly what he was attempting to accomplish - one guitar with the ability to change tone depending on the song, feeling, or mood of the player.
The chameleon came to mind as they can effortlessly change colors, similar to his desire to have the guitar smoothly change tones.
The Furcifer is the genus of chameleon with the most beautiful, vibrant colors. And just like that, the brand was born.
What Makes a Furcifer Guitar Special?
To start, the wood. We found the best combination for maximum versatility and stability: mahogany bodies, roasted maple necks, and ebony fretboards.
Next, hardware. For stability, we chose a hardtail bridge with Graphtech string saver classic saddles, Tusq nut stainless steel frets, Sperzel locking tuners, and Schaller strap locks.

What About Playability?
We decided on a slinky string feel, so all of our guitars are built with a stock 24 3/4” scale length and a 12” radius fretboard. The roasted maple necks are finished in satin nitro for an incredibly smooth feel. Every guitar then goes through the Plek process allowing a perfect setup. The final step is hand rolling the edges for a comfortable “broken in" feel.
Last, but Certainly Not Least: Electronics
